The SAFe Fellow achievement is Scaled Agile’s most prestigious distinction, recognizing individuals who have exhibited the highest level of mastery and thought leadership in the practice and principles of SAFe. Established in 2015, the program recognizes a select number of individuals with the depth and breadth of experience to work at the highest levels of complexity in enterprise strategy, and who have established themselves as thought leaders in the Lean-Agile space.

“The SAFe Fellow program represents the ultimate achievement for those looking to advance Lean-Agile methods at enterprise scale with SAFe,” says Dean Leffingwell, creator of SAFe and Chief Methodologist. “If we are in a challenging situation—whether puzzling over the next generation framework or struggling to optimize a SAFe implementation—the Fellows are the folks we turn to.”
Dean Leffingwell, creator of SAFe, Chief Methodologist

The SAFe Fellow Achievement Represents a Multi-Year Journey

Achieving SAFe Fellow status is a journey that requires years of practice and contribution. Fellows have many responsibilities outside of being leaders in the Lean-Agile community. As a SAFe Fellow, one is required to:

  • Participate actively in major Scaled Agile, Inc. events
  • Promote and support SAFe in the marketplace
  • Maintain their SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Certification
  • Continue their work in Lean-Agile methods
  • Continue to work in Enterprise SAFe Lean-Agile transformations that demonstrate substantive and measurable business benefits
  • Continue field application at the Program, Value Stream, and Portfolio levels
